La Nouvelle-Orléans
New Orleans, the largest city in Louisiana, is situated in the Mississippi Delta, about 150 km from the Gulf of Mexico. Home to about 384,000 people, the metropolitan area has a population of 1.25 million. The city is renowned for its rich history, having been founded by the French in 1718. It is celebrated for its unique Creole culture, jazz, and the Mardi Gras festival. Summers climb to 30 °C, and the best time to visit is spring or autumn when the climate is milder. Despite the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina, the city has rebounded and attracts tourists.
