Afrique du Sud
South Africa, at the southern tip of the African continent, borders both the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean. The country has three capitals, Pretoria, Cape Town and Bloemfontein, and a population of around 57 million. It is multi-ethnic and multilingual, with 11 official languages including English and Afrikaans. The largest city is Johannesburg. The climate varies from desert to Mediterranean, which makes the spring months (September to November) the best time to visit.
