Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan since 1966, is situated on the Pothohar Plateau in the northeast of the country. The city, designed by Greek architect Konstantinos Doxiadis, is surrounded by the Margalla Hills. It enjoys a mild climate, with temperatures ranging from -4 °C in winter to 45 °C in summer.
